To start using the mills, you have to remove a seal between the glass and the grinder. They are closed too tightly for a female to open. In my case, I had to return to the store to get someone to open it for me and remove the inner seal. Now that it is done, the two mills work very well.

Good enough. Metal grinders are hard to find anymore. These don't leave residue on the counter because the grains come out of the top.
