Mastercraft 28" Grey 4-Drawer Wooden Top Base Cabinet with Wheels, 28 x 18 x 34-in

I bought two of things, along with the two matching upper cabinets and the two 72" cabinets to make a set. Start with the cons: - As the other reviews stated, the wood tops are TOO small. The first one is 1/2" too short, and the second one is 1" too short. So basically you can't screw in the wood tops. These wood tops must have shrunk as they are like 8 pieces of wood glued together, like a butcher block. - 200+ screws...but I used two drills, one with a bend long bit and a normal one. Only 45 min to build...you need to us power tools. - So much packaging and styrofoam! Pros - Rest of it fit well, decent quality Would I buy again? Not sure...depends if I get the replacement wood.

This is a sturdy cabinet, and once it was put together I was pretty happy with it, but the experience of assembling it was quite frustrating. The wooden top was roughly 1/4" smaller than it should be, leaving a gap at the front. I don't really mind the gap as this is just going in the garage, but the threaded inserts on the top are clearly placed a specific distance in from the edges, and since the top is too small the holes were in the wrong spot. I was able to use a jigsaw to slightly enlarge the holes in the front metal frame to take this into account, and my sloppy work is hidden under the wooden surface, so no big deal. It did take a while to figure out why nothing was lining up though. Also, after finishing the assembly I found that I hadn't used the washers at all. Turns out that in one of the first steps it shows the washers in the diagram when attaching the side panels to the top, but this isn't mentioned at all in the text instructions which clearly outline which parts are used in every other step. At this point I wasn't going to take the whole thing apart to add the washers, and they don't seem to really be required as there isn't any force pulling upwards on the top anyways. The casters are very sturdy and I like that all four of them swivel; makes it very easy to slide the cabinet around the garage.

After viewing this Mastercraft cabinet in the local Canadian Tire, I decided to buy it for the shop in my outbuilding. I was disappointed when I relized it was totally disassembled after starting to unpack it. After laying all the packaged and numbered parts out, and setting up a table to assemble it on, I left it that way for several weeks. Finally, on a warmer December day in my unheated shop, I mustered up the courage to start the assembly process. The small instruction manual has all the well-organized assembly details. There were nearly 200 Phillips screws, of 4 different kinds! An included Phillips screwdriver which thankfully was magnetic (or the small screws were) made the handling of the many smaller screws much more manageable. Having enough space to lay all the labelled parts out, made the assembly fairly straight-forward. With carefull attention to detail, all the parts fit together well, and the screws secured it all together. The material used is good, and everything was very nicely finished. The unpackaging, organization and assembly took me 6 hours over the course of 4 days. Once completed I was relieved, but also pleased to have such a well made cabinet for my shop.
