    The smell is gone

    2 days ago
    Recently purchased a country home with hard water and a severe rotten egg smell (hot water only). After draining the hot water tank and installing the zinc anode rod any lingering smell was completely gone within 48 hours. It has been installed for a few weeks now and the water is perfect. The previous anode rod appeared to be magnesium.
