Broke on the first use

Bought this tool and the belt broke in the first 5 mins of use. I went to the Canadian Tire store to get a replacement belt and was told they don’t stock them. I then proceeded to try to find one from an online retailer or anywhere else to no avail. I called the Mastercraft help line and was redirected to a medical alert promotion?? I would not recommend this tool.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: How many blades does this unit have? Can they be sharpened?

A: The tool 0542432 MASTERCRAFT 6.3A Portable Hand Planer is included with two blades which cannot be sharpened. It is recommended to replace it directly if needed. Q: Mastercraft planer 054-2432-2 started to smoke out the vents after using it 2 passes. Had it set to 0.5 which I believe is only half a mm. Was using it on walnut. Is there something I should check or is the unit toast?

Q: I was planing some old hard fir 2X4s and the blade jammed. The motor is still trying to spin so it appears the jam is within the planer portion...I can't see what is jammed - any ideas on how to fix it without taking the whole tool apart?

A: Maybe jammed by sawdust. Suggest to prepare small hook and insert into Dust/chip extraction port to clean the sawdust or chip. Disconnect the pulg from the power source when cleaning.
