Product Details

The Mastercraft Voltage Detector/Tester has a non-contact AC voltage detector with a flashing LED and a buzzer to confirm the presence of an active current. The voltage tester can detect electric current between 70-1000V AC, as well as signals between 50-500Hz in frequency. This Mastercraft voltage tester is safety-rated to a CAT III standard, which allows it to perform continuous measuring in order to detect live wires and breakpoints in addition to detecting voltage.

This could get you toasted, imagine it doesn’t sense and no there is indication there is power on a conductor! Yikes returning it immediately,.. Yes, you should always use a contact based meter as well,..

A: This non-contact AC voltage detector can confirm the presence of an active current. It can also detect electric current between 70-1000V AC. It is advisable to turn off the power at the breaker box prior to replacing the smoke detector.
