This tub fills cracks and made this project look new

Needed to fill in cracks in a very old post for painting. Cracks were up to 1/2" or 1.5cm wide in come cases - the wood post twisted and split on two sides, if you can imagine what that might look like. The AlexPlus worked well to gradually fill in the deep cracks. I did not bother trying to push all the way in, some of them were over an inch deep - just needed enough to be solid for sanding and painting.
The post is 10 ft tall, and cracked heavily on two sides. I filled the two bad sides plus smoothed the other two sides of minor damage over 40 years of being banged into and so forth. Now complete, and about half of this tub has been used. No issues with drying, spackle it did not crack though the 3-4 layers needed for the deepest or widest areas.
Used AlexPlus tubes and other containers for decades with no issues at all. Always does the job as long as you choose to use it as designed.

drying Time

put this into a spot that needed multiple layers. Put it in expecting that 24 hour drying time was enough in my basement apartment. 2 days later it was still songy to the touch.

Thank you for posting your feedback on DAP Alex Plus Spackling. DAP ALEX PLUS Spackling is a water-based formula, the sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool or humid application conditions, moisture in the application surfaces or by thick (deep) applications of the product. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "Do not apply when temperatures are below 50°F." and "One application is usually sufficient for small repairs. For repairs deeper than 1/8”, apply two or more layers allowing spackling to dry between applications. May be sanded or painted in 1 to 5 hours depending on temperature, humidity and depth of fill." Because you did not provide any background regarding your project, it is difficult to provide a more detailed response in this format.
