I m using this product to prevent rust on metal that will not be seen by anyone. Do I need to top coat with regular tremclad rust protection

Hi Bill, The Tremclad Primer is not strong enough on it's own and does require a topcoat. However, if the metal won't be exposed or abraded by anything else, you may be able to get away with no topcoat. rustoleum-ca

A: Hi, Great question. We have not tested a urethane base coat over our Tremclad Oil-Based Rust Paint. We recommend waiting for one week before performing a test.
