Great product. ALWAYS get it shaken real good before leaving the store and stir it well before using. If putting in a sprayer you can only clean up with denatured alcohol, as this is shellac based. DO NOT USE: varsol, paint thinner, rubbing alcohol, acetone or lacquer thinner- it will not work. Or it will damage plastic sprayer parts. Ex: (Acetone, lacquer thinner) *Only use denatured alcohol or methyl hydrate for clean up*

Q: I have a ceiling that has soot from my wood stove, will this product cover the soot without having to clean the ceiling first and will it do it in one coat?

A: You must clean the ceiling first or nothing will stick to it . The Zinzzer will block any stains that are left after it is cleaned . I would give it a light sanding with medium grit sand paper also , for better adhesion .

A: Hi betty boop, No, our Zinsser BIN Primer-Sealer is neither water or oil base. It is a shellac base which is a natural resin in alcohol which allows for lightening fast dry and cure times.
