Q: which Rust Check product will best protect the rear wheel wells, and more specifically the lip seam ? Adhesion is a concern from the turbulence and winter slush effects in washing off the rust inhibitor

  • A: this will work although some areas will always have washing, from high amounts of constant slash from wheel rust check inhibitor the red can is better or in-between panels its more runny and will creep into the tight spaces

Q: How can I get it to be non sticky? Can I spray Rust Check Green on the inside and outside of my rims for my winter tires? This product does not dry. Is there something I can do so that it dries? Can I spray a coat of regular Rust Check Red over it? Is there any harm to the rims?

Q: What's the difference between this and Rust Inhibitor Spray (red can)?

1 Answer
  • A: The green can has a grease-like component that is good for chains, sprockets, metal and rubber bushings with open crevices that the product can seep into and adhere better than the product in the red can. I use it on bicycle chains, car door hinges, rubber suspension bushings, steel rollers on rails.

Q: my car starts getting on the hood and under the doors (small points) is this product good to stop the rust?

1 Answer
  • A: We don’t recommend application of Coat & Protect directly to painted surfaces. The small stone chips on the hood are best treated with a paint touch-up pen. If this is due to extensive rust formation under the paint, then a more extensive body repair/refinishing process may need to be carried out to stop the rusting.

Q: I used this product with effective results, but was wondering , does it soften rubber boots and bushings? Thanks.

1 Answer
  • A: Most applications will result in overspray on these rubber components, the Rust Check Coat & Protect 047-7921P will NOT soften or effect rubber boots and bushings! However we do recommend working around rubber and plastic components and parts.

Q: Burning smell? I sprayed this underneath my car, now there is a burning rubber type of smell. Is this normal? Thanks.

1 Answer
  • A: Rust Check Coat & Protect (Pro # 47-7921) should not be sprayed on or near components that may attain high temperatures (mufflers components, engine components, etc.) If some overspray has covered some of these components, then temporary odors may be expected due to volatilization of the oil residue from the hot components. These odours will gradually decrease over several days. They do not pose any health or fire concerns.
