Q: Can these be interconnected? So if one goes off the other ones also go off?

  • A: Yes but the new Kidde smoke and CO alarms come with their own new wiring harness, it doesn’t click into the old version which would be a lot easier. I’ve had to rewire 3 of them

  • A: Mine is electric. You can connect it to the wire in the ceiling. There is two models, one with batteries and the electric one.

Q: I have model KN-COSM-IBACA that I need to replace. is this one compatible as a replacement?

  • A: Likely not. Liddell even changed their own wiring harness making a simple plug in impossible. I had to have an electrician wire in three new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Q: Does this unit fit the standard (older hardwire) ceiling bracket size?

  • A: No they do not. As of July 2024, ULC has changed teh standards for smoke alarms and as a result of the engineering changes, all of thenew alarms have had to be redesigned from teh wire on down and will not connect using the old wires. The new units do come with teh appropriate brackets and wiring harness.
