Q: is there a diiference between regular sunflower seeds and black oil seeds? black oil sunflower seeds vs regular sunflower seeds

A: For commercial purposes, sunflower seeds are usually classified by the pattern on their husks. If the husk is solid black, the seeds are called black oil sunflower seeds. The crops may be referred to as oilseed sunflower crops. These seeds are usually pressed to extract their oil. Striped sunflower seeds are primarily used for food; as a result, they may be called confectionery sunflower seeds.

Q: Sunflower seed Why is it that increasingly there is more CORN in the packages of Morningmelodies bag of black oiled sunflower seeds that I am paying 29.99 for ?? If I wanted corn in my blend, I would puchase some other brand !! I am not a happy buyer !!

A: The formulation calls for 100% black oil sunflower seeds and our manufacturer has confirmed that this the case. The only possible corn contamination is at the start of the production run with carryover from the previous run, however, our manufacturer does have procedures to avoid this issue.
