Why is brake fluid $26 per liter?
OEM Super DOT 3 is a premium product with a 260°C/500°F dry boil point that far exceeds the minimum requirements of 205°C/401°F. This higher boil provides added safety by ensuring that the vehicle's brake can withstand even the harshest of driving conditions while also providing longer fluid life.

Questions
Q: If DOT 4 is classified as DOT 4 mainly because it has a higher boiling point than the DOT 3, how is it that these same brand DOT 3 (260 degrees C) products have a higher boiling point than the same brand DOT 4 (230 degrees C)? I find this very confusing.
5 years agoA: Dot 3 and Dot 4 are different formulas- temperature for each formula can vary. Please consult your owners manual for the correct DOT brake fluid to use.
