Much safer than the one I replaced.

The spring loaded trigger on this model is so much safer than the switches that click and remain in the ON position. Anybody who has used an angle grinder knows the danger of an ON switch that doesn't disengage automatically when a tool like this gets wrenched out of your grip.

Strong, HD 13A Grinder

[Employee of canadiantire-ca] I've been putting this grinder thru its paces the last little while, without hesitation I can tell you it is truly a HD model! Much more so than the mighty 6 amp 4 1/2 inch dewalt I've been using the last 30 years. I'll continue to use the smaller 6 amp for the smaller jobs, but the bigger ones will only see this grinder now. It took a few minutes to get used to the soft start but its great! Doesnt want to jump out of your hands when you squeeze the trigger as some brands/models will, an excellent feature. The extra long 10 ft cord is also great, its a quality cord that stays pliable no matter the temperature. That can be hard to come by these days, so kudos to Maximum. No vibration, excellent erogonomics and balance make it comfortable in the hands, also very important to me due to arthritis. Reversable handle for those odd jobs, quick adjust and release guard. It's light enough to one hand for a short time too. Altho I'll probably only use this with 5 inch wheels, having the ability to switch out to 4 1/2 inchers is another nice feature to one who only has 1 grinder. I have to mention, the large zippered canvas utility bag is also a nice addition. Whether you're a professional metal worker or a home DIY'r, yes, I fully recommend this powerful unit! It provides all I'll ever need, especially so with having the CT Maximum 5 year warranty.

Beaucoup plus léger que les versions anciennes de la même catégorie. À utilisation prolongée on sent la différence sur la balance, l'équipe des masses. Plus de 25 ans dans le domaine de l'acier et une belle évolution se fait sentir. Pour le prix, la qualité est au RDV. J'aime beaucoup le démarrage en douceur, et lorsqu'on lui en demande plus, il s'ajuste pour demeurer à la même vitesse, pour de belles finitions c'est important. Donc, je recommande.

Q: Since this grinder has a 5/8 inch arbor, why is the included grinding wheel one that requires a 7/8 inch arbor?

  • A: The shaft is 5/8ths the seat for the disc to sit on is 7/8s. It takes 7/8 curing wheels and 5/8 screw on buffing wheels.
