A: No, this one requires a 12V plugin to be used. If you are looking for a LED strip light that uses USB to connect, you can purchase 037-2705 (search this product number in the search bar of the website) which should work in your room providing you have a USB plug-in.

A: This item is built for interior use. Although the light strip itself is water-resistant (vs. water-proof) it is not designed to be exposed to a vehicle's exterior elements.

Q: Do you have to hardwire them to use the remote, my remote won’t work with the adapter.

A: No, you do not have to hardwire. Power can come from power socket or hardwire, as long as 12 VDC power is provided. Please check the following : a. Remove the battery pull tab in order activate the remote. b. Remote is IR, so it is a direct line of sight, same as your TV remote control. c. Receiving black box must be right side up, if upside down then it is similar to your tv facing the wall, it will not receive the remote signal. d. Check the battery power, replace if necessary.
