Release valve

There are a number of references to the "release valve" but it is not in the parts list or shown on the diagram. Where is it? What does it look like?..

Honeycomb welding

Mine came with rust flakes, honeycombe welding and what looks like could possibly be painted over rust on the main hoist arm, have tried contacting Canadiantire, waiting for reply to see if it is safe to use.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good Hoist for the money

Needed to move a porsche 944 engine. The hoist took about an hour to assemble. The instructions are not very clear but it is pretty straight forward. Bought the hoist on sale, it is a very good price for quality. Works well, the paint on the legs might need to be scrapped off to be able to fit them into the base.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great piece of equipment

Look I'm weary of these cheaper type tools. I read all the reviews prior to buying . My main concern was height vs load. I used this unit on an aircraft. All the performance was as stated. The lift went together easily and without a hitch. Wheels and storage method work well. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Q: What is the maximum height of the boom? I'm trying to decide if it'll go up high enough to be able to lift the fifth wheel hitch out of my truck.

4 Answers
  • A: It's worth noting that 6 feet is the minimum height at the maximum weight of 2 tons, at 500 pounds the boom is at it's maximum extension but the height is greater at roughly 90 inches or 7 1/2 feet.

Q: The total weight of the Engine Crane ?

3 Answers
  • A: I had to carry mine and swing it assembled myself, and I would guess the weight to be somewhere around 100 lbs or 50 metric. You can take off the leg extensions and it is easier to balance. They pop off with a quick release pin. Just takes seconds to re and re the legs.

Q: Engine Crane When crane is folded for storage, how big is the foot print? In other words, how far does it protrude away from a wall?

3 Answers
  • A: Depends on how much you dismantle it. The legs are about five feet long. Take them off and the unit base is about 2 1/2 feet, but the lift arm goes out about 4 feet. Sooooooo take that off and then you might as well dismantle the base and stack it all under a foot of space. Should take about five minutes to take apart.

Q: What is the shipping size fro crane #09-1086-2? What type of vehicle do I need for pick-up? is it fully assembled or in boxes?

2 Answers
  • A: The product comes in 2 boxes. One is about 30" x 36" x 6" deep. The other is about 14" x 70" x 8" deep. They are both heavy and will need two people (or one very strong person) to lift. So, to state the obvious, it does NOT come assembled.

Q: Could this crane be used to lift the engine out of a Dodge Ram w/5.7 litre engine

2 Answers
  • A: The crane will certainly lift the engine without problem. It's up to you to ensure that you have sufficient lift space above the truck to get the engine over the radiator, or pull out the radiator and front grill and bumper and pull the engine straight out the front.
