Junk

Winch gears easily stripped out on my first one, . I returned it and on the replacement the gears are already showing signs of premature wear after a few uses. the handle is a sloppy fit and the steel used for the crank shaft is soft and poor quality… making it impossible to tighten the handle nut tight enough to hold it steady.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Manufacturing defect

Piece of garbage for the handle of the unit. After a week of use the handle became loose. The slot in handle is manufactured way to large for the shaft on the winch and will fail within a couple uses. It's the second one I owned of this unit and the first failed the same way too. Thought I would try it again on the second unit but it was worse than the first one. Returned back and got a Reese unit.

Cheap pieces of steel.

I purchased one winch, it broke. Got a replacement and it has broken off both handle positions. Do not buy this piece of junk. Had to give it one star because I can’t give zero.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 7 of 7 Questions

Q: Is this a two way winch?

2 Answers
  • A: Yes.  Switch lever to enable cranking in / or out.  Make sure lever is not in neutral position because will back off loose while towing your boat.   I would not recommend this unit due to my crank handle twisted off while putting boat on trailer.  Thankfully i was able to move handle to other gear position.

Q: Don't see how it's "free-wheeling" without a spinning handle....unless one removes the handle ????

  • A: This winch is on a sales rain check for me, I don't have experience with this winch so I shouldn't answer your question, but I will as I have experience with many similar winches. In my opinion, the lever that is 'flipped' up or down allowing one to crank the cable in or out may likely have sort of a 'neutral' position in the middle. The crank is used to relieve cable tension allowing the lever to be moved into this 'neutral' or 'free wheeling position. If there is tension on the cable and one lets go of the handle, the handle would spin freely as the cable unwinds and not stop until tension is off the cable - so keep your body parts away from the spinning handle! One might control the handle when free wheeling but be careful. Just my opinion.

Q: Left hand configuration? The picture shows the handle on the right hand side of the winch. Can the winch be reconfigured so that the handle is on the left?
