Metabo HPT 36V Brushless Jigsaw with Variable Speed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have only used a few times but it has worked as it should. What stands out to me is how smooth the pressure sensitive trigger is. It gives me the most control I've ever had with any jigsaw. I prefer smaller jigsaws and this 36v is a bit too large however I knew what I was buying. I'm still very satisfied.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great tool. Know that it will only accept T shank blades. Phenomenal value for the price, I'm slowly updating all my tools with Metabo HPT. The name is still very confusing for people. No one would care if it was called Hikoki, in fact I bet more people would choose them with that name because it's simpler and it wouldn't be confused with the other Metabo and a lot of tradesmen here know that the Japanese design good stuff.

I just received this tool. I had (past tense) a cheap big box jigsaw that saw the plastic blade retainer split in two. I own several Hitachi / Matebo tools and absolutely love them. My cordless drills are in fact 15 years old and I'm just starting to see them tiring out. They've built a few decks and bunk houses...I currently have a job cutting patterns into 2" pine and decided to add the Metabo jigsaw to my collection. I just notched out a beam and I'd describe the tool as a cutting miracle. I'm using a Bosch long, general use, carbide tipped, blade. Cuts straight, square and comfortably. I'm incredibly pleased with the tool. Pleased enough to stop cutting to come in and write a review before I forget. Back to the saw!

Used to cut countertop sink openings, did not disappoint Charge lasts very long time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This review is for the Metabo HPT 36v Jigsaw (CJ36DAQ4). MY BACKGROUND I am a homesteader and I also own a business where I do various jobs in woodworking and carpentry for my customers. I have high expectations for my power tools, because I need them to perform as they should so I can make money and keep the homestead operating. WHAT I LIKE: Let me say that I've been waiting for this jigsaw for a long time! It's nearly all that I hoped that it would be! It is powerful, smooth, robust and tough. I like that it has the trigger lock-out feature AND has the separate trigger lock-on feature! This means, if using the lock-out feature, it's safe to throw into your bag or box and not worry about it turning on! The lock-on trigger button keeps the trigger in the operating position, which is a great feature for the person who is using this jigsaw for detail work or who gets hand fatigue. I don't want to understate how nice it is to have a trigger lock-on feature! It's a big selling point for me! There is a dial for speed that can be used with the variable speed trigger. It's very useful. The trigger itself is large (in a good way), easy to pull and has a good amount of control. The trigger has true variable control. It does change speed in stages like many jigsaws. The blade change mechanism is very sold and smooth. It doesn't have a squishy feeling when you pull the trigger. The shoe is very nice and solid, though there are some drawbacks. It comes with a dust shroud and a splinter guard. From what I can tell there is no deflection in the blade during use. THINGS I DON'T LIKE: The shoe miters to 45 degrees, but you have to use a hex key to loosen the shoe and move it (no tool-free adjustment). There is only one positive stop in the miter adjustment and that's at zero. I'm not of fan of that. There is no option for dust extraction. There is no no-mar shoe cover. WHY?? The "A" (auto speed) doesn't seem to be very sensitive. You have to push hard for it to ramp-up. CONCLUSION: Every tool has it's little issues and this one is no exception. However, this is the best jigsaw that I have ever used and I've used many! It has the power and features to push the other top brands out of the way. I really, really like it! I would recommend it to any prosumer/DIYer or PRO!
