    Questionable quality!

My saw was literally only an hour old when the motor ground to a halt and I could hear parts inside the motor rattling around. Reading through these reviews I see that another saw has suffered the same catastrophic failure as mine. It leads me to question the overall quality of this item. Look elsewhere for another saw.

No, I do not recommend this product.

OK the first two years but after that...downhill

Bought this saw to build my basement. It has a lot of power, soft start, laser is good (you can't see it outdoor, only indoor) It is generally well made for rough construction like framing. However for finishing it is not precise, you will need to adjust it to get a perfect 90degree. My biggest problem is with the miter quick lock positions. The part that clicks into the grooves is made of plastic. After two year of use the plastic now flexes so when you click it into the 90 degree position is does not stay there, it moves left or right 1/4 inch. This means you have no idea where the actual 90 degree cut is. So if your doing finishing cuts or any woodwork, this is useless. I do not recommend this product. Save you money and buy something made of all metal components.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Great saw

It seems that i need to buy a poor saw before i step up and get a good one. My previous saw was okay for odd jobs but did not really do anything great. I was fortunate to pick this saw on sale and have not regretted this purchase one bit. I do not have a lot of room for permanent stands for my power tools. I have a large shop shelf in my workshop and I can pop it up onto the shelf in no time. I can grab it off the shelf and mount it onto my workmate in a minute. I have used it for renovations, finishing , trim, shelves, cupboards and small projects.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Good value for DIY

Have had this saw for just under a year now. Completed a number of projects with it. Was originally after the Bosch but this saw had excellent features and I managed to pick it up on sale so it was an amazing bargain compared to the Bosch. I have a habit of going over all bolts, nuts etc. when I purchase any tool so I didn't have any assembly issues noted by others. Soft start does take getting used to but I actually like it now. It gives me a second to think before cutting sometimes saving me from making a stupid cut. compact and enough power for all the hard wood I use. Haven't noticed any accuracy problems and I just finished a project with over 400 mitre cuts. Happy I made this purchase.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

A good product with distinct features

I'm not a fan of the Maximum line and this is one that really stands out. I have been using it for 5 months now. I bought it mainly because of the shorter space required behind the machine, soft start and solid railing system. These features haven't disappoint me. Here are a few Cons for this machine: - the back plate like an omega shape has left and right side and they do not form a straight line. Impossible to make perfect 90 degrees cut with it and no way to fix it - the default setting is not perpendicular and must fine tune by yourself - the dust collection port only collects a small part of the dust even with a 3HP vacuum - the arbor is not deep enough for dado insert This is still a solid piece of equipment after all and if you are tight of space, this machine is worth considering

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Is any portion of the supporting structure made out of plastic (like the black parts at the back)?

    2 Answers
    • A: Worse, the little part that locks into the miter plate hard stops is made of plastic, and starts mushrooming right away. Even with the locking lever engaged the table slides 2-3 degrees each way. There are a lot of plastic parts that really take away from how much potential this design showed with the backwards rails. Very cheaply assembled with lousy out of the box adjustments.

Q: The RPM on this saw is 3200 while ths RPM for most others is 5000. Is this the motor or blade speed?

    2 Answers
    • A: I think its the blade speed. The motor is supposed to be soft start/Constant speed, meaning its not supposed to get bogged down on deep cuts. Regular saws spin the blade faster so it has the momentum to make it through the cut. The saw doesn't jump when you start it like some other saws do. Either way the blade does spin slower but I also don't notice it Bogging down on deep cuts which I will say makes it a bit easier to control (my old saw would "Buck" some times while this one just powers through it albeit slower).
