A great welder for a beginner
I had no experience welding when I purchased this welder. The result was amazing!! I watched a few tutorials on-line and was laying a decent bead after only a few tries.
The added equipment in this bundle is also great. The auto dimming helmet works flawlessly, and the gloves are high quality. This is a must buy if you are getting into some hobby welding.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Very Nice Package, YEAH for the auto-darkening helmet.

I bought this welder package and am very surprised how well it welds. I don't use gas just the flux-core wire. (I previously had a Lincoln 180 - 220v ) but needed something more versatile as many times 220v wasn't available. I wish the mig gun cable was a little longer and the plug in cord also, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I've welded some very thick pieces at full power and gotten very solid welds, that are strong. (It's 95% prep work, that gives good results) All in All, I'm very satisfied with the purchase, and wouldn't hesitate to purchase again. (If the Gun cable was longer I would have given 5 stars)

Coolest tool in my garage
I looked at these Mastercraft units off and on for a few years, unsure if its lower entry price point (compared to immediate competitors) was going to meet my shade tree needs or if would end up being a tool useful in limited situations.
The moment I pulled the trigger and connected two pieces of metal, it became the coolest tool I own. I feel like a sorcerer holding a magic wand every time I fix my way out of a problem with it!
Reviews indicate it’s not intended for commercial or heavy duty use, but it is a good contender. I’ve had mine going for hours at a time, not doing long continuous welds for minutes at a stretch, but more realistic use of spot welding of a couple of seconds, followed by 10-15 seconds of rest while I re-position and repeat (a process done anyway to prevent warping of body panels no matter the welder due to the intense heat). I keep old bed frame metal to weld together things that might need to be made from steel. Have lost count the number of broken bolts I’ve been able extract by welding on to the broken end. This ability alone makes this a valuable tool.
Its duty cycle performance is better when used with a 20amp circuit, but I’ve been running on a regular 15amp home circuit just fine. The kit came with good quality gloves, an auto dark helmet which is fantastic and a spool of Flux core wire and MIG wire to get you started right away. Flux core welding wire to get you started is good. It holds very well. The welder can also connect to optionally purchased MIG gas and regulator system to get even better quality welding jobs done.
First timers, read the manual thoroughly. Not only will it provide you safety information, it will give you the proper setup of the machine to get you started with flux core wire faster and be more successful at your welds sooner.
The key to getting the full performance from this mighty little machine is practice. The more you do, the better you should become.

great buy!
I just purchase the welder bonus pack on sale at Brandon Canadian tire and I must say it was one of my best buys! It works great, I welded many different sizes and types of metals. I also done a lot of searches on welders and for what I needed to do it was the best buy. If you had to buy all the accessories that came with it, it would be much more. So now it's time to get to work on all the project with metal I wanted to do.

Q: Can this unit do braising and cutting?

A: "Braising" is probably best done with one of the wide assortment of slow-cookers available in Canadian Tire's small appliance department. "Brazing" is generally associated with an acetylene torch setup.
