    Exceeded expectations

I had been skeptical about this saw, and I bought it only because it was on sale and thought it might be handy to have as a substitute for a light duty scroll saw.. However after putting it to the test this weekend it has exceeded my expectations, cutting through a variety of woods like butter. I even cut a 2X4 with it (even though that's reaching the limit of the written specs) and it cut through quickly without any trouble! The saw is easy to set up, and the blades are easy to change. I haven't tried the metal or tile cutting blades yet - they're on my list to try out another weekend. As a wood-working hobbyist, this will be one of my regular go-to saws.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Mastercraft Versa Saw

It is not an industrial saw but I so far have found it to do what I expect from it. I don't think I would purchase one without the variable speed which this one has. Looking forward to using it more.

    Cool tool

First, if you've not seen this tool before, think upside down jigsaw. Second, throw away the instructions; totally useless. The swing arm is metal but the head is plastic. It is impossible to get the blade to run true on the rollers/guide. I made a small modification using burr washers, moving the rollers forward and it worked much better; it is all plastic so achieving precision is not possible. As claimed, this is a light duty tool but bearing that in mind, it works great but don't push it. It is light so easy to move around. Securing it is an easy and a good idea as it does walk around otherwise. It comes with a good two size adapter to attach suction. I was able to use my small shop vac; many tools do not provide this capability. The collection drawer is nice to enhance collecting debris. A storage drawer for a few extra blades is also convenient. A large, well positioned on/off switch with lockout capability and separate speed control are nice. The guide, although plastic, is also a nice touch. Vertical & horizontal guide groves in the deck is handy plus the angle cabability. I use it mostly for cutting 18-22 gauge sheet metal; the guide is not good for sheet metal; the lack of precision fit allows the sheet to slide under the guide, otherwise the saw works well, using common sense. Cutting wood and plastic is a breeze. Overall a nice addition to my hobby shop, Good value bearing in mind it's limitations.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: Blade angle adjustment I've noticed that the angle of the blades seem to be off by about .5 to 1 degree. Is there any way to adjust the tool? They need to be twisted counter clockwise.

    1 Answer
    • A: The Mastercraft Versa-Saw doesn’t have a blade angle adjustment on it to fine tune the blade. The only way to ensure that the blade is in correctly and lined up, is by holding on to the blade and slowly let go of the locking knob in place. This would prevent the blade from moving or turning, and should be fully aligned with the front of the tool.
