A: The answer provided by the Canadian Tire expert is incorrect. This pump does NOT need to be completely submerged. Minimum water depth is 1/2" as per the box. We have owned two of these pumps and while they don't last forever you get good value for the price you pay.

Q: Indicates that this pump has 1-1/4" barb adapter however this adapter is too small for 1-1/4" hose (sump hose) - previous pump fit the hose no problem. Will Canadian Tire give an adapter that will fit the 1-1/4" hose or do I need to return the pump?

A: It is not likely for a wrong fitting to be with the pump. The likely scenario is that the tubing that you are trying to mate with is not 1 ¼”, perhaps 1 ½” or some odd metric variant. If there is some “bite” between the tubing and the adapter, then a hose clamp might fix the issue. Without seeing the actual issue (picture) or a sample of the hose it is difficult to confirm and actually supply an adapter that will resolve this issue. We recommend measuring the hose and if it still does not fit, returning the product for an exchange.
