Don’t strike on tool to get fingers under a nail?

The instructions on the tool say not to strike on the tool to use it. I really don’t know how anyone could use a nail puller, without striking on the opposite end, to get the two fingers under a nail!

very comfortable, when the pry bar could not catch the broken nail heads the hammer claw was able to pull them out. Just not sure what is reason for safety clip as a trade person removed it and used it for keys . Pry bar in tool pouch now
