Fantastic
I purchased this welder from Canadian tire on clearance and I have to say, I am impressed. I am by no means a professional welder, but with this little machine, I was able to complete a number of small fabrication and repair jobs. I mainly use it to make repairs and alterations to my company dump trailer as well as repair body panels on my company trucks. It is fully capable of welding heavy gauge steel if you set it hot enough and run multiple passes. I've attached a couple photos as examples of some of the trailer repairs I've used the machine for. I do recommend setting up a dedicated 110 plug for this machine with 10 gauge wire and a 30 amp breaker to take advantage of its full power.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Nice welder

My Miller 120v M130 is 12 years old and was giving me trouble. I had to get a project done and I didn't want to spend a bundle. I was a bit leary purchasing a non- traditional welder but trusted the Mastercraft name. I was very surprised at this product. It welded better than my Miller and seem to give me better welds! Super impressed! It is a great deal for the casual welder. Read the manual and go!!!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent product
In my 40 years experience this small welder was a nice surprise. I have a mig-pac 230v welder by Lincoln at my work and this smaller welder keeps up with Lincoln. Flux-core welding was very good but I was curious how the mig welding would be. When I switched wires and added gas it worked like a charm. Great welder. Excellent for use around the house and garage. I would recommend this product to anybody.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Where and how can I order replacement parts? e.g. welding wire liner, tips, etc?
1 Answer
A: We currently carry certain replacement parts for the Mastercraft MIG 140 Inverter Welder in our assortment. For the contact tips, we have three different SKUs (058-9478-4, 058-9622-0, 058-9623-8). However, unfortunately we don’t have a welding wire liner. In terms of additional parts, we carry all the required welding wire and have a number of accessories to help compliment the unit.

Q: Breaker size needed? 2T-4T switch what does it do?
This welder calls for a 20 amp breaker, and that 15amps is not enough. If so then why is the power cord it comes with only 14 gauge? Which is only good for 15 amps.
Welder has a 2T-4T switch what does it do, can't find it in the manual?
1 Answer
A: 1/This machine need to use 20A breaker, because the max input current is 20A.
2/2T-4T, it is the switch control MIG torch, customer also call it as Trigger Lock Off / Trigger Lock On.
3/14gauge power cord can bear 20A input current. This welder includes the power cord has CSA certificated.

Q: Does this come with the gas regulator?
Also Is there a flux core aluminum wire or is it gas only when welding aluminum?
1 Answer
A: Yes it comes with a gas regulator.
For flux core welding (no shielding gas is
required), the red MIG gun lead is connected to
negative (“-”) polarity terminal and the ground
cable is connected to the positive (“+”)
terminal.
Please see the manual on our website for more information.

Q: Need a readable electronic copy of the setup chart
The setup chart inside a welder gets damaged. A 2014 Q&A post by "CdnTireTeam" has an image of this setup chart in low resolution & shows Cdn Tire has an electronic copy of the chart. Can you pls post a copy of the chart in readable resolution?

Q: It calls for a 16 amp time delayed breaker where can that be found? Is 15 amps good enough or should the breaker be 20 amps
9 years ago
1 Answer
A: We recommend that you use a 20 amp breaker when using the Mastercraft MIG 140 Inverter Welder . A 15 amp breaker will be too small and the welder may trip out.

Q: For welding aluminum does it require a separate spool gun? If so, how do I source?
1 Answer
A: Yes, if you plan to use this welder to weld aluminum, it requires a separate spool gun. Canadian Tire has a Lincoln Electric spool gun (58-6500), but we cannot guarantee it will work flawlessly with the Mastercraft Welder as the product was developed to work with Lincoln Electric Welders.

Q: What consumables does it use?
Does it use proprietary consumables (contact tip, nozzle, etc) or does it use a more common brand of consumables like Lincoln (for example)?
1 Answer
A: I found the answer myself, providing it is the same as the MIG 180 (which I'm sure it is). For anyone else interested in knowing, it uses Lincoln consumables. This was the only thing holding me back, but now I'm sold since it uses common consumables by Lincoln.
