Drill and accessories were a great deal. Used it a few times and no problems. The only problem is with the case. It's so brittle that it cracks at the corners, in the middle, the hinges break and the latches are broken too. Very poor quality recycled material used. It doesn't matter where you touch it, it cracks. Mastercraft not standing behind their product. This happened after the warranty was over.

BROKE and Can't Be Repaired or Replaced
I've had this drill for just under 2 years and used it only periodically. While drilling through some cedar 6x6 with an auger bit, it went BANG inside, and now it is broken. When you pull the trigger, the motor spins but the chuck does not, so my first thought was obviously some gearing broke inside. I called Canadian Tire and since I paid cash they would not replace it without a receipt, but since I purchased this about 2 years ago I can no longer locate the receipt. I called Mastercraft directly, and they told me the same thing; They said they don't have any way to repair it, no parts for me to fix it with, and they cannot replace it without my 2 year old receipt. Even though its a MASTERCRAFT item only sold at CANADIAN TIRE, I cannot prove that it was purchased there. Since then, I took it apart and found that there was indeed some broken gearing. A shaft that connects to the chuck gearing shattered and there was bits and pieces of it all over the inside of the drill. This is an absolutely terrible product! It was a waste of my money and I warn you DO NOT BUY IT!

Nice looking but didn't last long

Bought a number of years ago on sale , thought it was a good deal . Used it a few times to drill holes , worked good . Drilled four holes in garage floor on hammer setting , did the job well . Next time drilled a hole in a patio stone that was about 3/4 inch thick , It stopped just as I finished the hole never to run again . Figured no sense in taking it back as I had it a while . Used it less than 10 times !!! Where can you get a trigger switch for these ???

Douteux

Q: Where do you find a replacement chuck key?
The chuck has a 1/2" chuck, but the 1/2" keys that Canadian Tire sells have a 1/4" pilot which is too big for this drill. So where do you find a replacement key, and what size should the pilot be?

Q: serial number?
where can I find the serial number, so I can fill my warranty registration card?
2 Answers
A: the serial number is usually found on the sticker on the side of the drill. but you should only need the Canadian Tire prod number, which is 54-2951. If you have a receipt or a credit card statement, you should be able to get an exchange if you are within the 3 year warranty period. Unless the tool is abused, refurbished, etc... :) hope it helped...

A: Unfortunately, there are no hard cases available.
We would suggest to look at the soft cases we have in our assortment.
