Garbage, works only long enough to reach first refill

Admittedly, I bought my first one a long while back. However the first had to replaced same day as it wouldn't work. The second one lasted me few uses over a long period of time but now doesn't ignite. Being near empty, I tried filling it for the first time but it didn't help. Also, the plastic nut that holds the metal tip is a poor fit and has been constantly coming off since I bought it.

i'm not sure what product some of the other reviewers here are talking about, because it cannot be the same butane soldering iron that I have and is shown in the picture above. you do not need to light it with an external flame and it is as easy to light as a bic lighter. it heats up to melt solder in about 30seconds and it will solder 12 gauge wire no problem. I have carried one in my tool bag for emergencies for years and this is the 2nd one I bought. (the other one was dropped and the ceramic coil inside broke) for soldering wires, electronics and heat shrinking on the go.. it's hard to beat!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Trying to light it up bu feel no pressure

I used the torch (and refueled) three-four times, but now it just won't start. As I am pushing on the ignition trigger, I hear less and less that "Fsshhhhhh..." noise such as while using a regular propane camping bottle and a torch nozzle. I tried refueling twice but it's full and I all I do is wasting butane. Did I missed something in the instructions?

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Butane Micro Torch...how do you change the tip I purchased the butane micro torch with the quick change tip and I cannot figure out how to change the tips.

    • A: The iron sleeve simply screws onto and over the torch end. To switch from iron tip to cutting tip, simply unscrew the tip only. NOTE: BTW, I found it very hard to unscrew the iron tip the first time around. I had to use rubber gloves and pliers to loosen it doing minor damage to my iron tip. It was extremely tight. But I mainly use this as a torch since I have a professional soldering station so I do not necessarily need the iron / cutting bit.

    • A: Just light it up using an open flame such as a lighter. It has no internal ignitor.

Q: What is the difference between this this torch and the mastercraft butane torch kit? I ask because I want to know if both use the same body (torch body). So is the only difference between the two because of the extra 2 solder bits like the polyfoam?

    1 Answer
    • A: Both the 58-0001 and the 58-0029 Butane Kits contain the same Torch, but the 58-0029 kit also comes with · a Polyfoam Cutter tip, · Rope Cutter tip · Solder tip · Torch Flame tip · Hot Blow tip · it also has a Folding Stand with a clean-up Sponge · all packaged in a plastic case.
