Poor quality

Received it brand new as a gift, it worked for only a single use. After a year in storage it simply stopped working. Brought it back to Canadian Tire to get it fixed. They never took it back. This will go directly in the garbage. Will not buy Mastercrap products again.

Good saw, bad service

I got this saw seven or eight years ago. I don't use it frequently but it's been used plenty since I bought it. It's got lots of power and the laser is quiet accurate. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that they aren't repairable and you can't get parts. I lost the rip fence and despite the fact that there is a parts listing in the manual, parts cannot be ordered through Canadian Tire / Mastercraft.
No, I do not recommend this product.

pulls a big vacuum

got this saw a while back. cut a 1" x 12" board really well. went to cut the next board, the laser came on but not the saw. tapped and jiggled it, nothing. read the reviews, took it back and exchanged for a better saw.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Does it come with guide rails for long cuts Some circular saws come with a guide rail so you make very straight, accurate long cuts in plywood, etc. Does this saw come with a guide rail?

A: There is a guide rail that comes with the saw, but it's only about a foot long (wide?). According to the instruction manual it's to make cuts the exact same distance from an edge.

A: Yes you can adjust the depth to a minimum of 1/32" and a maximum of 2 1/2".

A: There is no battery required for this saw. It runs on a dynamo system, meaning it will last the life of the circular saw...which is really a nice feature.

Q: Is it possible to buy a longer guide rail for this saw? The one that is included is for cuts only 7 inches wide and I would like one that can make cuts up to roughly 40 inches wide

A: You can make a jig for your circular saw and make more accurate straight cuts. Search circular saw rip fence jig and you will find various solutions. Also, Kreg Tool makes a rip attachment. I never used that myself, but looks pretty solid. You can not rip 40" with it though... Your best solution is a jig.
