The top-mounted float switch is easy to access and fully adjustable for optimal performance. This pump's installation requires common tools like a screwdriver and hacksaw (check valve sold separately), and the design is straightforward for easy setup.

Mastercraft Strikes Again

The unit eventually worked, but had several installation issues. The base of the unit was chipped. Plastic guide for the rod impossible to push on shaft and snapped (even using dish soap to aid with sliding it on). Also missing the rubber grommet for the float switch, designed to trigger the pump. Seems like open box issues, but was not sold as an open box. Had to salvage several pieces from our old unit (which actually ended up having higher quality parts, from 5-6 years ago). Was forced to install as-is due to heavy rainfall and melting, but very disappointed.

No, I do not recommend this product.

  • A: I am no professional when it comes to these things. I have 8 foot walls in my basement and it pumps the water out no problem. You just have to make sure it doesn't tip over. Sorry that is all I got.

Q: How many watts is this, I am askign to see if the 400 watt battery back up will support this

  • A: 1/3 horsepower is 246 watts so you should be fine. It wont run it for long however depending on the Amp hor capacity of the internal backup batteries

Q: Good for a 2" Layer of Water? Can this pump suck a 2" layer of water off a subdeck that gets flooded in the spring? Can I attach a long garden hose to the pump so that the water is moved far away from the subdeck? Is there a more suitable pump for what I need?

  • A: Yes there is- Buy the utility pump that has a specific thread for a garden hose. Product #62-3580-2 or better still Product #62-3575-6 that one pumps down to 1/2" depth I have an old one years old- works perfect

Q: IS THIS GOOD ENOUGH TO EMPTY WATER OUT OF BACK YARD WHEN SNOW THAWS MY YARD IS FULL OF WATER WILL NEED TO SUCK THE WATER OUT OF THERE DOES THIS EMPTY TO THE GROUND REMOVING ALL WATER AND WILL IT BE A GOOD PUMP FOR THIS WILL THIS PUMP LAST

  • A: no buy a submersible one like this Product #62-3575-6 will be far better and uses a garden hose as discharge- the other one will short out if motor gets wet

Q: What is wrong with this pump? I have pulled it out and lubricated it 10 times now. It runs fine for 2 days, then when I test it the motor just hums, so I pull it out again.

  • A: Nope, never anything blocking the impeller. The pump is sitting on bricks in the basin. I think the shaft or a bearing gets rusted stuck. A little turn of the impeller and it's going again.

  • A: Hi Keith, The open end of the rod guide has a small button that will fit into a hole in the column, about 6-8" below the motor. Get it lined up and then rotate the guide so it snaps into place. Thanks
