I had my doubts, but wow. These are secure on the mantel WITHOUT DAMAGING THE FINISH OF THE MANTEL which was important to us. Eac clip is a good size, they are not thin or flimsy. They look great on their own. A nice chrome-like finish. We effortlessly adjusted them many times through the season, depending on whehther we had a fire going or not. I bought 2 packs because we had 6 stockings this year. Santa was able to fill each stocking with about 4 pounds of goodies per stocking and the hooks certainly could have handled heavier things if needed. They look great, worked great, will easily store away and did not break the bank. Through the years, we have collected various resin statue style hooks that balance precariously on the mantel that have scared us all when the dog walks near them or when a child is near... these mantle clips are a solution that takes the stress off yet displays the stockings great. And we can still have the resin statues on the mantel, we just have these Mantle Clips actually holding the stockings at the ready for Santa!
