Q: I accidently put not to much this stuff to my gas tank, , what will cause?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi David Thank you for your inquiry. If there is less than the recommended amount of the product in the gas tank, it is not likely to cause any issues. If you are certain there is more than the recommended amount of the product in the gas tank, however, it is safer to drain the tank completely so that the product does not settle to the bottom and potentially cause issues. Alternatively, you can dilute the product by keeping your gas tank full for a period of time, however, we recommend draining the tank rather than this option. Again, if the concern is that there is not enough of the product in the gas tank, it is not likely that it will cause any complications to your vehicle.

Q: Can I also add this to my oil in between oil changes and still begin the benefits?

1 Answer
  • A: Sure, but like all additives, it's not a mechanic in a bottle. If you're expecting miracles you will likely be disappointed with the results. With realistic expectations its worth a try.

Q: Will this stop a valve cover gasket leak in a 71 Chevy Nova, 350 engine?

  • A: I really doubt it. Changing the gasket will stop the leak. I would suggest that, however you could give this a try to maybe help slow it until you can properly repair the leak.

Q: Can it be used to stop a leaking gearshift seal in a small 4 stroke motorcycle engine?

1 Answer
  • A: The Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak product will blend with either engine oil or gear oil no trouble. The tricky part becomes how much to apply and how well it will work. We would not recommend more than about a 10% treat on a motorcycle that has a common sump meaning engine oil does all 3 jobs - engine lube, clutch coolant/lube, and trans lube all from the same sump. If the trans/gearbox is separate we could go with a higher treat rate like about 20% of the capacity. How well the product will work depends on how bad the leak is and what has caused the leak. If the leak has been caused by time it may help slow the leak. If the leak has been caused by parts wear it may not work. Seals dry out and get hard over time when in contact with petroleum. Our product works due to a very specialized oil that is in the formulation to soften and rejuvenate the seal material. In turn a soft seal will work better when riding against the metal surface it was intended to seal.
