Fades quickly

A very cute product to have floating in the pond. Kids love it! Although the colour faded very quickly in the sun during the summer.

Q: Do you take out the two pins at the base to get to the battery? I am having a heck of a time figuring out how to get to the battery. The specs say easy battery replacement but...I have pulled out one pin but the other refuses to budge.
