Krylon® Triple-Thick Clear Glaze

Makes my art waterproof. Use in well ventilated area and careful getting the overspray on anything. A couple light coats vs one thick is best.

I had some hit and miss outcomes on 8 inch square test panels before attempting to clear a $400 helmet, which I'm glad I did. With my own trials and a lot of online homework of reviews, the best advice I can offer is to do the same homework. Where it comes out clear and smooth, it looks really good. Give it a few days at least to develop a hard surface. After one day I could still leave finger nail marks in it. Get used to how it sprays; keep the can further away than you think and make the passes lighter coats. Some people get great results in one pass at 18 inches away as directed. Many others do not. Let it build up with light coats 10 minutes apart so the next coat "melts" into the previous coat before it's dried 100%. It will flow out great if you attempt a heavy wet coat but you run the risk of trapping the solvents that normally evaporate and you'll get permanent cloudy or rough patches, called "blushing". The other source of this is high humidity. Sometimes you can eliminate those spots with a heat gun - carefully. Definitely a superior finish to other high gloss clears I have used over the years. Usually I prefer satin but this stuff has the finish I need to complete my helmet painting (airbrush).
