Wish it was better

Just bought this hoping it would work great. I unpacked it, got it all set up. I put a record on the platter and lowered the needle hoping to hear the wonderful rich sound of vinyl and what I got was nothing. The needle would not get anywhere near the record. Now my wife did some research and told me to balance the tone arm. Unlike a traditional turntable you cannot balance the tone arm on this turntable so I continued my troubleshooting. As luck would have it the pin that allows the tone arm to move up and down is rusted. Now I realize the idea of making things as cheap as possible is the norm nowadays the least that the manufacturer could do is use a pin that doesn't rust. The extra 3 cents it would have costed to put a good pin would have prevented this terrible review and would have allowed me to enjoy my vinyl collection. Sorry Canadian tire but this turntable is being returned. I hope that other people have better luck than what had.

A great turntable..!

Bought it months ago and only now hooked it up. Works great. The built in speakers provide ample sound for a small living room/dorm. Of course it sounds better plugged into a sound system. Mine too, just stopped turning at the end of the record (but that's ok). Got it connected to my comp via a 20 foot USB cord, downloaded the software and was recording in seconds. But, you will need 3rd party software to make MP3 files if using Windows. Yes, it IS NOT a TAPE digitizer (for those stupid enough to believe that a record player, plays tapes!). And no, it's not a full blown stereo for those hard of hearing! But, it works great for what it's meant to be. I love it and I'm an old disc jockey whom plans to digitize a lot of collectable music. It works great! Stupid people shouldn't be allowed to review things.

The sound quality of this unit is quite poor. Even when connected to my stereo system. Can I return this product to a store for a refund?

Canadian Tire ION Turntable

After having spent a lot of time looking for a turntable, I stumbled across the ION sold at Canadian Tire. Very nice wooden design, stable, and plays like a charm. The sound out of the speakers is good but can be made better if plugged into a speaker system. No need for bulky equipment. This turntable is perfect. The USB cable will permit me to transfer my music into digital files if I choose too. I'm loving this!

Q: As one of the other reviews stated the "Automatic arm function" does not work on the unit I bought either. Is this a problem with the units or is there an easy fix for it?

A: Hi Spinner, I'll be happy to help! The MAX LP does not contain an automatic tonearm however it does feature an Autostop Switch. This switch turns autostop on or off. When autostop is on, the platter will start spinning when the tonearm is placed over the record and stop spinning when the record has reached the end. Q: The description says it will play 78 rpm Will this player play all three speeds right out of the box? or do I need a 78 attachment?

A: Yes you will be able to play all 3 speeds right out of the box. There is a recommendation to purchase a 78rpm specific stylus. 78 records have a slightly different groove than 33 or 45.
