    Not durable for camping

I wrote another review here within a month of purchase and was satisfied at the time. Now, I'm looking at a lantern which shows no signs of damage and it does not work. I've tried charging by solar or by USB charging in, and the light does not turn on. Camping demands products that don't need to be handled gingerly, so I no longer recommend this lantern. I would delete my previous rating under the name of labradortea

    Cheap

The cheap-feeling switch actually turned out to be just that, cheap. Never camped with it, but did use it to light a homemade tent for my toddler. After probably 30 on/off cycles, the switch stopped working completely. It was out of reach of the kid, and I was always careful with it; so it suffered no abuse. Just crapped out. Maybe the next version won't be a waste of money.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Returned it right away

In the store it seemed like the best choice by its design and versatility and its weight. Its very light weight compared with the other choices including the LED lights with batteries. The light quality out of the box was pretty good with variable switch. But when it dropped from the chair table to the ground, it stopped working. Seemed to be poorly constructed if it breaks with a 1 m fall to the ground. Two stars for functionality and weight. Zero for durability.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Lantern can charge your devices via solar

This is a very versatile device. It is a lantern first, and it works well as that role. It is flexible enough it can be charged by USB if there was some reason light wasn't an option. The light is designed to shine out and indirectly down, so it is a nice room/tent light when hung high. As a bonus, it is also a source of power for your devices like cell phones and anything else charged over USB. It is great to keep the phone charged up when away from AC power without thinking about battery booster. A booster can help keep things powered for one or two days, but the solar lantern can keep it charged day after day when away from civilization. It doesn't need direct sunlight to power the solar charger. Similar to a solar power pocket calculator, even dim light can get the juice in there.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    • A: 3.33 watts LED is one way to view of the conversion. If you wanted a comparison to traditional incandescent wattage, it would be more like 20 watts.

    1 Answer
    • A: As long as the solar panel is receiving some sort of light the indicator light will be red and on. If there is absolutely no light anywhere then the indicator light will not be on.
