This is a good machine. |Make sure you put it where you want it because it can be awkward to move. Works great!

Good deal for a solid piece of equipment

Bought this last week on sale. So far it seems like a very solid elliptical for the price range. It is very smooth, quite stable and quiet. I was impressed with the assembly. The assembly instructions are very good and each step has a separate shrink wrapped package of parts. Instructions are clear if you take your time, read carefully and identify the proper parts. Took just over an hour to assemble and I took my time. All parts fit properly and aligned without issue (just make sure you don't tighten things until all screws/bolts are hand tightened). The user instructions leave a bit to be desired but it is pretty intuitive to use, so not a big issue for us. Not sure how durable it will be but at this point I have no indication it will not be durable. It is quite heavy and bulky in the box. Make sure you have help to move it from the store to your house.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Broke twice and no warranty

Very poor quality/ the left step broke just few months after purchasing. Was able to get part replaced while still on warranty. After year and a half the step broke again! Called them and they said out of warranty, although their web site states lifetime frame warranty. I was told the frame is considered only a central piece that everything attaches to and if the part can be removed - it is NOT a frame. In any case - very bad product that will not last long so do not waste money on this junk.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Poor Quality

I purchased my elliptical Feb 2011 and in Oct 2011 it started making a clanking noise. I emailed Horizon but sent the email to the wrong address so my inquiry went unanswered. Finally in Feb 2013 after taking the machine out of storage I hired a repairman to replace the flywheel. Horizon was kind enough to give me the parts for free even though my warranty had expired. It cost me over $220 between the two visits for labor. Within 24 hrs of the repair while using the machine the pedal snapped off the arm. The quality of this machine is bad. Obviously from reading the other reviews my experience seems to be a one-off however I doubt I could ever bring myself to purchase anything Horizon again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

Q: Will the CE5.2 hurt a wood floor? Will the CE5.2 be okay to use on a wood floor? Should I put a throw rug underneath it, or possible a plastic chairmat (like the ones used under office chairs)? Thanks

  • A: This machine is heavy. I have it setup in the Basement on laminate floor. I think it would eventually damage any soft flooring like vinyl or wood so I would put something under the front and back to spread out the weight. I actually used spare pieces of laminate as a throw rug or plastic chair mat would not spread out the weight.

Q: Clicking / knocking sound? A clicking sound is coming from the front left joint where the arm support joins the lower foot support bar. I have checked all connections to make sure they are tight. The sound comes and goes. Anyone else experience this?

  • A: I had the same thing. Take the plates off that the rollers slide over and it'll run smooth.

Q: What is the price really supposed to be? This machine is identical to the EX-59 from Horizon Fitness except for the model number. If the MSRP is set to $999 by Horizon Fitness for this exact machine, how can CT justify boosting the regular price to $1,399.99?

  • A: Because they often sell it for $749.99.

Q: I'm not sure if the stride is right. Some machines go from 13"-15"-18". I'm 5'3" tall...my legs are not long. I know when walking with others, I don't have a long stride. How do I know what's a good stride for me?

2 Answers
  • A: This unit does not have adjustable stride however I am 5'4" and it seems good for me. I believe the stride is 18 inches.
