Q: Are these shelves made from real wood and what kind

A: I can't say for sure, so I don't really know...as we've never cut them to see what's inside. I suspect that it's a pressed composite board (like MDF?) that's been finish-coated with a baked-on white paint (so it has a melamine look). Hopefully this helps to answer your question.

A: BEWARE::: The answer given by Canadian Tire to someone else for product 068-0626-2 was that..."Each shelf is rated to hold 50 lbs or 22.7 kg, per 12” / 30.5 cm. This item must also be properly installed, by ensuring the brackets and or up rights are securely fastened into a wall stud." BEWARE: The answer to that same question for THIS product says 50KG (110 pounds). Do NOT believe the answer for this product. Injury or death could occur should the shelf collapse on someone beneath it. I only asked about weight for this one as it is from a different manufacturer. BEWARE...and Canadian Tire...TAKE NOTE!!!!
