Q: Used on RV. So, if they are meant to seal against water (rain), why do they rust up within a few months? I thought they must be stainless. I would pay more for stainless.

A: The rubber grommet that is located between the surface of the base material and the screw head itself is water proof. The standard steel screw has some built in weather resistance but is primarily used in non-weather exposed situations
