Canadian Tire advertises this skillet as 1,500 watts, which is incorrect. The power rating is 1,200 watts, which is about standard for skillets of this size. The Rock is by far the best non-stick coating currently available. This model of Starfit skillet is superior to the style that uses a lighter (~wire) handle. The connection between the handles and the skillet is more positive. The thermostat remains easily visible beneath the big handle. On the negative side, Starfit’s instruction to not overtighten the handle screws is not at all helpful. No torque spec is provided. How do you know if you’ve overtightened the screws? The handle will break. Secondly, the temperature control is vague. Only half of the adjustable dial is used, and the distance between set points is tiny.

Q: Is the skillet immersible in water for cleaning?

A: Although online sources say you can immerse units like this in water after the probe is disconnected, I still choose not to. I still clean it with the probe connector upright to avoid water from getting in. It's just a natural concern.
