Theft attempted.

Use it for my lawn tractor. Had it just 2 months when I discovered that someone had tried to steal it. They apparently tried to twist the lock off from the pin with no success. I removed the pin, with great difficulty, and did my best to straighten it out. Not successful. I noticed that the warranty on Cdn Tire's site said "Special warranty. See Canadian Tire for details." Or words to that effect. I bagged everything up, returned it to Canadian Tire, explained my needs and they happily did a straight exchange. I didn't even have the receipt from the initial purchase. I was amazed. Happily, of course. Thank you Canadian Tire!!!

Does the job

I've used this product for many years with no problems at all. It is highly visible and provides peace of mind. I accidentally pulled the trailer a couple of feet forward with it on one time - no damage other than the round steel pin being slightly bent, and the trailer fender pushed out of place. Plan to buy another one for my utility trailer. Be sure to remove the U shaped piece before travelling any distance on the highway - it throws the wheel balance off.

Breaks very easily

Didn't take much to break this item at the round bar that attaches this to my trailer. Moved the trailer slightly. Heard and snap and the round bar snapped where the pin inserts. This is a visual deterrent only. One revolution and this item is broken off and the thieves have your trailer.

Very intimadating to theives.

Sometimes a highly visibly product like this will deter people from stealing your item. We use one of these along with a yellow gorilla hitch lock. When I leave the trailer and look at those two items on there I feel pretty secure my trailer will be there when I come back.
This item is a little bulky and cumbersome but it does a good job.

Q: je me demande si ce n'est pas tres facile de couper la barre noir l'appareil est bien fait mais à premiere vue , la Barre noir qui retient l'appareil à la roue semble etre tres facile d'accès, peut on la couper facilement avec un grinder ou scie à fer. merci de repondre Amigo
