For general garbage such as kitchen waste it holds up, but non-recyclable cardboard not so well as it cuts open.

I always buy these. They may be slightly more expensive, but they're worth it. Sometimes with the cheap bags they rip or you have to double bag, and if there's even a minor tear the whole bag could be compromised. The Glad bags can stretch and handle extra weight, but even if they do rip slightly from something poking at the side of it, it doesn't continue a run and tear in half, so you will almost never need to double bag it. The ties just make it easier too.
