This is NOT flat back. It is completely round.

This description says “Flat Back” and it certainly is not. It is completely round so it will not sit flat against your wall.

Q: This rain barrel appears to have to two holes near the top. Are these for attaching overflow hoses or some other purpose? If not for attaching overflow hoses, are tou firced to allow overflow dribble ocer the top?

A: Hi Annemarie - I bought two of these rain barrels. I attached a hose to the upper hose bib-faucet to allow over-flow to fill five 20 gallon black garbage containers to minimize water run-off wastage. Make sure to put the lids back on the garbage containers once they are full to keep the water cool. During dry spells I can then use the additional water-run-off for my vegetable and flower gardens. I haven't tried attaching over-flow hoses to the two over-fill holes located on the backside of the rain barrel yet. Thanks for that idea though.

Q: What diametre of garden hose will attach to this barrel? I purchased the barrel earlier this year but I need to buy a garden hose to attach.

Q: Why does rain water continue to sit in the middle area where one can plant flowers? Is it supposed to drain into the two small holes or just sit there?

A: Most of the water will drain out the two holes. A small amount is designed to stay in the planter to water the plant, and it is recommended that a layer of gravel is put on the bottom between the plants and planter to avoid drowning them.
