Well designed tool. Instructions completely inadequate

A lot of thought and design clearly went into this "General Angle-Izer Protractor No.29. Older versions viewable online refer to multiple patents. It is actually very sophisticated and versatile. The problem is the documentation, which does not explain how to use the **vernier scale** to read fractions of a degree (denominated in minutes, i.e. 1/60th of a degree). The OEM does not have a page let alone a video. Fortunately, there is a great Wikipedia article on how Vernier scales work. Once you read that, and get out a magnifying glass for this compact unit, it all starts to make sense. Still, allow yourself a good hour of study and practice before trying to accomplish something requiring precision with this.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Handy and simple little tool to have kicking around. Takes the guess work out of cutting angles.

The product photo is inaccurate and misleading

The product photo says it is a "HEMPE" brand and "MADE IN USA". I went to the store to buy one based on this, only to find it is another brand "General" and "Made in CHINA"... Be wary as this is NOT the same product as advertised. I have no way of comparing the one I bought in the store to the original one that's advertised because, well, the one advertised does not exist in the store! Buyers Beware!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Inaccurate

I was making a barrel mug and used this protractor to set the saw blade angle. Once I cut 12 pieces to make a circle I ended up with a gap and found out that gap was 24°. I used my metal protractor to verify this yellow plastic protractor and found out it was off by 1°. That made sense because each of the 12 pieces had two angled cuts adding up to 24 cuts and out 24° total. 1° isn't much but when it adds up like in my barrel mug project it becomes a big deal. I would not recommend this if you need high precision.

No, I do not recommend this product.
