I wanted short phone cords ( about 6" each) to connect my cordless phone base to my answering machine and then the answering machine to the phone jack. I had already spent way too much time looking for short cords when I found this tool with the connectors on the rack at Canadian Tire. With the tool and connectors, I was able to cut the longer wire I had to the length I needed, strip the outer cable sheath (but not the wires because that's unnecessary) to the proper length and then attach the connectors precisely and firmly. It was intuitive and efficient - neither I nor the tool made any mistakes. I had considered buying the tool from other places (some can get to $40+, but they also can crimp RJ45 and other cables), but I would have to find and purchase the connectors as well. This package is still more than a phone cable costs, but it will save me time and money in the future, so I think it will pay for itself shortly.
