Recall
There is a recall on this heater. Model # 043-5863-4. Units sold between Sept 1,2010 and Sept 1, 2013. Some units may overheat and burn the 'comfort switch' posing a fire hazard.
As reported on Midea International. Return unit to Canadian Tire. Thought I would share as I only just found out...April 2022.

faulty level selector switch
I have purchased two of these units... the 600/900/1500 watt level selectors on both have broken.. and by all means cannot be replaced. I advise you to purchase units will a toggle switches and not dials . Unless the manufacturer can buck up for a better quantity dial for the price they charge for these. disappointment is an understatement.
No, I do not recommend this product.

A: could just be a burned out bulb, or defective panel. You've probably tried this but if not put the power selector to III and the thermostat all the way up then push the comfort temp button. Good luck.

A: Sounds like a dud. It should power up right away. Canadian Tire is great for exchanging. Mine works great.

Q: How much space can each output effectively heat up? I estimate my room to be 160 sq ft but I don't have a door going downstairs (if that matters).
Also, the placement of the heater, should I put it in the middle of the room or anywhere is fine?
Oh, will it also heat up the upstairs or downstairs?

A: These heaters are much superior to those fan forced electric element heaters, but they are still only secondary heat units, you have to experiment for a suitable place according to your personal needs. There is no way this heater will heat two rooms connected by an open doorway or even a cold basement room.

A: There are 2 switches and a maximun/minimum dial. Both switches off and the dial at min, you get no heat. Both switches on and the dial at Max, you will get full heat. Everything else is in some measure in between. Either switch has a lit portion that, when switched to ON , lets you know you have power to the unit.

Q: When using the "5) ANTI-FREEZE SETTING"; if there is a power outage will the unit automatically restart in the Antifreeze setting mode?
Using these to prevent cottage water lines from freezing when the cottage is unoccupied & power interruptions are frequent, it is essential that when power is restored, the heater will automatically operate again without manual intervention.

A: yes. there is a manual switch for that feature. Its not worth the price though. Mine just broke because it tipped over due to top heavyness and a slight bump. It lands on the on/off switch if that happens. Plus it is thinly made and not very efficient
