    good product

I like this oil filled heater because I can just drag it over to where I'm sitting for some personal, localized heating. This way, I don't have to run the house furnace as often, (or I can lower its temp.) -- I can just heat my area, and not the whole house.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    More caster problems

I bought two of these heaters today. On both, one or two of the casters would not attach. I noticed in the reviews and FAQ's that other people have reported this problem. They are difficult to attach - a lot of force is required - but some of them go on and others don't. On closer inspection, some of the bars the wheels are meant to attach to are a slightly different size and shape - I think that's the problem. In the FAQ, Canadian Tire says to look on page 4 of the manual, but there is no advice on the issue here or anywhere else in the manual. It is annoying that I now have to return both heaters after paying for a taxi to bring them home. It's a relatively small problem, but I don't see a solution and they are unusable without the casters (they would tip over).

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Garrison Oil Filled Heater

I bought this heater October 2013 & it has kept me warm these last two Winters. It is easy to use. Heats up quickly. I wished I had bought this heater a few years ago instead of being so cold in my living room as the balcony windows faces North & when the wind blows the cold comes though them & makes the whole room cold. Excellent price.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: How do the castors lock in place? Doesn't seem to want to do that, totally loose and will fall out! will be returning it if there is no fix for this

    • A: You have to use quite a bit of force to attach the casters, but in some cases they still don't attach. The manual does not address this problem.

Q: Heater knob broken, warranty covers for it? I have used this heater for under a month and the power selection knob just stopped working. It turns but does not pop into place the at power intervals. It just wobbles around loosely. Can I bring in my heater to be fixed?

    • A: The warranty of this heater is for 12 months. Normally no one care to keep the receipts for long period of one year & without the receipt, the warranty of one year is useless. As it is happenning in this case.

Q: What is the energy consumption of these heaters? Are they more efficient/less costly to operate than say an electric dish heater??

    1 Answer
    • A: The energy consumption is the same for all portable heaters. They are typically all 1500 Watts on high setting. There are many factors that go into the potential energy savings such as temperature outside, temperature you require inside, amount of time the heater is running.
