disappointed with product-good customer service

bought safe--was disappointed with internal size. couple weeks later combination would not allow key to be turned. I called customer service, verified combination and procedure, still unsuccessful. Called again...very patient and helpful. I could not open so I took it upon myself to open. I pulled the combination dial and found 4 screws, removed the screws and pulled shaft out which allowed me to turn key and open safe. I found the combination section of safe of poor quality. Called customer service and received approval for reimbursement or exchange. Will be visiting CTC this week.

Not too bad

Got this one today on sale. One of the four rubber legs is broken and would easily fall off if you lift the safe. Probably got damaged by store workers. But I have no desire to return or exchange it due to its weight. The leg works ok if you keep it in the normal position.
The safe comes with two keys, the combination lock is new for me, took quite a while to get used to it. The code is set by the factory and hard to remember, the whole process to unlock the codes takes me at least a minute or two. Need to have key and codes in order to open it.
The safe is slightly smaller to my 1.2 cu ft microwave. The wall is quite thick.
There's a removable shelve, which I had to remove to fit my file folder in there.
The safe is not air tight, so the water can easy get in if placed under water, so make sure you place it well above the floor.
No, I do not recommend this product.

This product is one of the only four number combination dials on the market and was purposely created like this in order to add theft protection security. If you prefer a digital locking mechanism, Canadian Tire sells a Digital Steel Security Safe, product #46-0099.

Absolute Garbage

This safe is terrible, its incredibly heavy, from its size it looks like it can hold quite a bit and since it is titled a "document safe" i was incredibly frustrated to find out that a standard piece of paper does not even fit inside the tiny internal compartment. The lock on my model was also garbage as any key turned the lock and the 2 metal bolts were smaller than a mini safe i bought for $50. I will be returning this as soon as possible.

Thanks for your feedback. The heavy weight of the safe is due to the minimum steel thickness required for the 1Hr Fire rating. It also acts as a deterrent for theft, as it is more difficult for someone to simply steal your safe due to its 110lb weight.
Please note that this safe is not a "document safe". However, Canadian Tire does have several products that you can consider if you are looking for a safe to specifically store documents. Consider product #46-0067 or 46-0086.

The bolts on this particular model are high grade steel and are driven by high grade steel wheels and components in the locking mechanisms. A: The Honeywell 2203 (combination) or 2204 (electronic) specs look good for legal size paper. Amazon lists it at $155 U.S. I hope CT plans to carry this one. It will definitely sell better than the 2102 model.
