Only works when power is on.
We unplugged both lamps to test , neither bulb works .
Total waste of money Do Not Buy these
We will be returning these ASAP
Went to the Feit web site it was useless

The bulb is not designed to work by unplugging the lamp (fixture). The bulb will work when the power goes out. Please ensure that the bulb is charged for the recommended time of 24 hours, per the insert.

Ok product

I placed this light in the basement so I can see the electrical panel. I found that the light flickers like a strobe light for about 5 minutes after I switch the light switch off. This would not be ideal for a common area. A good idea but the flickering is just to much.

The concept is good for those that have a lamp used often. Or in a ceiling light fixture that doesn’t have an enclosed space. Wish this would work for pot lights!

Q: Dear Feit representative, i'm curious to know how the bulb can tell the difference between a power outage or just the switch being turned OFF or just the cord is unplugged ? Some people have reported the light turning on when they switch their lamp off?

A: The unit self-checks itself, for example if you were to unplug the unit from a lamp fixture it will not turn on. The unit will self-check to see if it is on a complete circuit. A complete circuit for this unit for example, is when you have this unit in lamp which is sharing the circuit with another fixture like a fridge. If the power does go out the unit will check if both fixture are out, and if both fixtures are out then the unit will turn on.
