EGO Power+ 21-in Rubber Broom Attachment

Of the dozen Ego Power products this rubber power broom is the first bad product I’ve used. The tool is unwieldy, heavy and dangerously powerful. The balance is poor adding to the difficulty in controlling the tool. I weigh 240 lbs and have no problem, for example, handling 50 lb bags of stone. I tried to use the tool on my dry driveway and the kickback was intense and quickly tiring. It’s easy to catch the rubber fins on the edge of a sidewalk, curb, pavement edge, etc which multiplies the kickback. At one point I was nearly knocked to the ground. I ended up using my leg up against the handle to push the broom forward. I also stood behind the tool and place the battery in my stomach to push the broom. The broom is a monster when in comes to effectively clearing dirt, debris, rocks, small children, etc. But, as designed it’s unsafe to use. I note that other makers of power brooms include wheels that sit behind the spinning drum. Not only would such a design help bear the weight of the Ego tool but also help keep the tool at a shallow angle. I purchased the attachment for my wife but she wisely declined to try it. Unfortunately, I’ll be returning the power broom. Of note: I tried using one of my shoulder straps from another Ego tool and also batteries with lower amperage; neither of which helped. I also watched several YouTube videos of people using the tool to make sure I was using it correctly. I’m sure that if I was using the tool on a wet surface it might have been easier to control but wetting all surfaces is impractical.

The results of using the rubber broom attachment are beyond my expectations. That was a very good purchase. Grass and pavement spring cleaning was actually fun for once. Nice results can be seen in no time. After getting used to the tool, it is quite amazing how fast the work gets done. Controlling the rotation of the broom with the trigger is key during cleaning operations. As a side note, despite the fact that it is not recommended, I did not install the guard, as it makes it easier to use the broom in 2 directions, e.g. pushing and pulling the rubber broom. It makes life much easier to clean near bushes, fences, walls, etc. It is important to note that the usage of safety glasses is a must, especially when pulling the tool to clean things up. The broom attachment could feel a little heavy but it is what is needed to be able to clean surfaces with minimum pass in the same area. After using it for a short time, you will develop tricks to use minimum effort and even manage to use the tool with one arm, which I do. I am very happy with the rubber broom attachment. It meets the high-level EGO standard.

Works well, some what heavy, could use a wheel kit.

Excellent for removing stones, that were put there by the snowplow over the winter, from the lawn along the roadway. Worked so well so that when my neighbour saw me using it they wanted to give it a try. Highly recommend it.

Fonctionne très bien, je m'en suis servi pour retirer des glands de chêne dans la pelouse et de petites roches et il fonctionne très bien. Par contre, j'aurais une suggestion pour EGO, faire une autre encoche de verrouillage à 180 degré sur le manche afin qu'on puisse installer le balai à l'envers car lorsqu'il est à l'envers et balaie vers nous, il est énormément plus facile à manipuler même que je peux le passer à une main lorsqu'il est à l'envers.
