Expensive but good looking vacuum

This is a great vacuum if you can afford it . It can be hard to navigate but it is very powerful and looks great. There are less expensive vacuums out tere that will do the job but if you want to feta dyson this is a pretty nice model . I would recommend this product if price is not an issue for you .

Yes, I recommend this product.

Repeat customer now disappointed, a Dyson fan no m

In a previous relationship I owned a Dyson DC21 or whatever the canister version was at the time, +- four years ago when I bought my first Dyson. This was a great vacuum. Sure, on occasion the hose would kink blocking off the suction but this was only a mild annoyance. Overall I was very happy with its performance. So much so that I recently purchased a new DC21. Upon assembly we noticed that with the wand fully extended, the hose coupling that allows the hose to swivel was many inches away from the wand handle. Note; that one of the photos on the CTC website for the DC21 is of the wand not fully extended. This was a stark difference from the previous stowaway Dyson unit I owned where the coupling rested loosely by the wand handle. I was concerned about hose durability. I called the Dyson customer support line, explained the situation and was informed that the unit I had purchased came with an improved hose. The person on the other end said she had the older version hose in front of her but assured me that I had the more up to date hose. Having the customer support person with their product in front of them was useful during our conversation as I explained what my issue was. Nevertheless I was told that if they sent me a replacement hose/wand assembly it would be exactly the same as the one I had. Upon pressing the matter further I was transferred to a supervisor. From here the conversation went south. Now from somewhere the new & improved wand assembly was available at their end. Again I was assured that I had the improved hose. I explained that the “new” coupling location made it difficult to properly wrap the hose around the turbine head for storage/carrying. The coupling now rested at the 12 o’clock position at the top of the turbine head. Further the wand would not nest into the funnel shape slot in was designed for. The supervisor told me I was not wrapping hose tight enough. Keep in mind I owned one these unit previously, I know now to wrap the hose. Wrapping the hose less tight made for a sloppy presentation that did not allow the wand to securely nest into the funnel arrangement mentioned above causing the wand to easily fall out to the floor. This new and improved wand/hose assembly seemed sub-standard, to me, for a vacuum at this price point. I asked why the assembly instructions clearly showed the coupling with a much snugger fit than the wand shipped with my unit. The Super told me they did not update the instruction photos with the introduction of the improved wand/hose assembly. Hmmm how un-Dyson like. By now I had been on the phone for 45 minutes and I had had enough. I told the Super I was unsatisfied with their explanation and was returning this defective vacuum to Canadian Tire. The search for a new vacuum continues…. Oh and it won’t be a Dyson.

Excellent

I bought this vacuum today and was very anxious to try it out. I used it on the rug in the front hall and what a difference! You could actually tell where I had vacuumed compared to what my old vacuum used to do. I even had a friend comment when they came over asking if I got a new carpet!! Definitely a great purchase, works very well and stores away easily.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Worth the asking price!

I have been using my Dyson DC21 for nearly 2 years. I had a Hoover prior to this vacuum which I thought did a great job. I also thought my carpets were clean. I was totally shocked and amazed by the amount of (extremely) fine dust and the ton of cat hair it removed from the very first time I used my Dyson. It made my carpets look brand new even though they are 15 years old! I have 2 cats and the days of having to live with cat hair on and in everything are gone. The noise level is average. Length of power cord and suction hose are ample, which is a pleasure. Suction is amazing! Power nozzle brush is able to grab and pull debris out of even our 'toughest to clean' woven carpet. I was very surprised how much resistance there was when using this vacuum as the suction is so powerful and the power head brush is so strong. The attachments are well made, easy to use and make housekeeping easier. Very cool upholstery brush! The 'Spring Cleaning' kit was included with my purchase. Unit is very maneoverable. Hose is designed to prevent kinking by making it easy to untwist naturally and easily. Cons: Very few! Don't bother to wrap the hose around the machine when storing or carrying. The hose doesn't fasten securely enough and the unit is a bit heavy to carry all in one hand. Also, the clip which holds the dust bin closed could be more durable. Perhaps even be re-designed to be spring loaded: opening and closing. Pros: Great vacuum cleaner! The hype IS justified, and the cost is worth it. I would buy this brand of machine again, even though pricey. We DO recommend this machine to our friends! Thank you Mr. Dyson.

I admit, I made a mistake.

Word of mouth and hype led me to buy this product. I strongly recommend you pull it around at the store before buying one. It is extremely awkward to move around. The vacuums edges also catch and have damaged my furniture. This makes vacuuming for me a slower process. The stiff hose is like an unwieldy octopus! It's not flexible and forgiving and makes a simple job a real chore in my opinion. The good news, it makes me feel like I've had a light workout after vacumming. The opening of the telescopic hand wand is not smooth inside. This causes an unnecessarily loud noise and occasional clogging. Pros for me! It has good sealed suction and I find the canister easy to empty. It has also been two years and nothing has broken. Most people feel embarrassed to have made a mistake and ego says don't admit it. I made a mistake and will not buy another awkward overpriced Dyson.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Which would you recommend? upright or cannister? I have hardwood, tile and carpet + 12 carpeted stairs

  • A: I recommend the Cannister Vacuum. It is much lighter as you will only be handling the hose and power nozzle. With an Upright machine, you will be handling the entire weight of your machine with every push and pull, and lifting it's entire weight on every step of your carpeted stairs.

Q: Give me a good reason to buy this. We are trying to get a good HEPA canister vacuum for our home, and can someone tell me why is this vacuum 599$ whereas I can find other comparable vacuums for 200-300$? What is so special about Dyson?

  • A: This is by far the best vacuun I have ever used inluding my central vac. The suction is amazing. The first few times we used it, it got stuff out of the carpet that our other vacuum had obviously left behind The carpet stay much cleaner for longer.
