    Great Warranty

Regarding the review under the title "Explore Different Brands" where the product was only provided a one star review, this was due to pre-mature failure of the unit. However, the company sent a replacement by UPS. I installed the valve and it is working perfectly. Kudos to Danco for providing a truly no hassle warranty replacement. It is great to see a company stand behind its products.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

When I installed this unit, it was very slow to fill the tank from the first day. Later, the unit would occasionally not fill the tank at all so I would have to manually fill the tank, flush and then the unit would return to its slow fill state. This has happened numerous times over the years. I purchased the unit in 2019 from a Canadian Tire store. This past weekend, the unit stopped filling the tank and I could not coax it into action. It's a very simple unit that does not have very many adjustments and I have read and re-read the installation instructions to ensure that I did not miss anything. I suspect that my unit was a dud (defective) from purchase and the extremely slow fill rate should have triggered me to return it but once it's installed, it is a bit of a procedure to drain the tank again, etc. I think we are all prone to question how something can be defective when it's new in the box and mass manufactured. I see that the unit came with a seven year warranty so I have written the company to inquire about warranty. This seems to be strictly a U.S. operation and I suspect that they will ask me to ship them the product at my expense, making it uneconomical to do so due to high shipping expense vs. the cost of a replacement. It is quite disappointing to experience a failure of a product after a relatively short time period.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Simple, reliable product with an easy installation

Was contemplating which one to get, as this was the cheapest one with some other models and brands available at 50%+ above in price point. I ended up grabbing this simple valve, it was such an easy install.. 1. Turn off the water valve (hose leading to the toilet tank), lift the tank cover, flush out the water. 2. Unplug the floating arm in the old mechanism in your current toilet (assuming its the traditional flushing method) 3. Ready a bucket under the connection of hose and the screw of the fill valve inside the tank (to absorb remaining water from the hose and in the valve), put some paper towels around to absorb any splash water. 4. Unscrew the old fill valve....toss it away 5. Install the Danco HydroClean Fill valve (make sure you follow the instructions on the height, its adjustable). 6. Ensure all is tight (the water line, the socket) 7. Turn on the water, enjoy the smooth flushing and worry free experience

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: I have installed two 550 units, and they both did the same thing, as soon as I turned the water back on, the fill valve immediately stopped and I cannot get it to work now. The valve closed so suddenly, that it caused a water hammer in my pipes.

    • A: Thank you for your inquiry. The HC550 would not cause water hammering in the pipes. It's possible that air got trapped in the lines on install and needs to be purge? To better assist on troubleshooting please contact our Danco Product Support at 1-800-523-5135 option 2 Monday-Friday 8am-5pm CST.
