    Worked Brilliantly

It was easy. Two taps of the hammer and the grommet was set. Grommets only got stuck on the tool if I hammered too hard. The set grommets looked good and I did not have any that did not set properly. The grommets are made of thin brass so I cannot yet fully attest to their durability. Seeing as my tarps seldom last longer than two years before they start to crumble, I am not too worried about the grommets. Brass is corrosion resistant so that shouldn't be a problem. In the past, I used duct tape, but that came unglued within a couple of months in the sun. These look like they should work better. My only regret is when I ran out of grommets.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

I called the company twice (and they don't have a toll free number), and they promised to call me back with a solution to my problem, which they said there was, but no one ever called me back. You could do better with duct tape and a knife.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    For lack of other options..

The only reason I used this product is a lack of a proper option. The grommets are cheap (quality wise), and the punch, die and pin are of a low quality as well. A word to the wise.. Practice on something other than the tarp you intend to mend as this tool is very imprecise, and buy some proper 3/8" grommets, these are very flimsy. Most of all, if you have any other options for a grommet kit, get that instead.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Exercise in frustration

If I wanted a stroke I would not want to pay ten bucks to get one. I followed the directions to the letter. If you didn't hit the tool hard enough or often enough the grommet would not seat. If you hit it too hard or too many time the tools would wedge onto the grommet and would not come off. Prying it off was not an option because it would wreck the grommet. My son came along and I asked him to try it without any input from me. Same thing. Luckily he is a tool and die guy (which is basically what this is ) and he suggested putting some vaseline or grease on both the punch and the die - and it worked. Make sure to do it for each grommet!!! I have no idea yet if they will hold up after some stress (wind); will report back latter.

No, I do not recommend this product.
